As if maple syrup wasn’t heavenly enough, I have finally figured out how to make it even better to give popular breakfast/brunch foods a touch of autumn. Apple cider plays a strong role in Northeast autumns. We love it warm and spicy, cold and iced and even in donuts.
Every Halloween one of our neighbors makes a huge pot of fresh, warm apple cider that is out of this world. Trick-or-Treaters get their candy and parents get delicious apple cider on a chilly Halloween evening. It’s perfect.
I wanted to add an apple component to breakfast one day and thought of various combinations and finally gave this recipe a try. It’s a perfect harmony of two fall favorites in one condiment, full of fall spice flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon. It was a winner in our home. It will be in yours as well!
Apple Cider Maple Syrup Ingredients Maple Syrup – 1 cup Apple Cider – 1 cup Nutmeg – 1/8 tsp Cinnamon – 1/8 tsp Instructions: 1. Heat up all ingredients in a sauce pan 2. Cook on medium heat till approximately 1 cup of contents remains 3. Cool down till warm and serve with French toast, pancakes, waffles or on top od ice cream. Remainder can be stored in the fridge for up to one week.
